Description: 1966 Roberto Clemente National League Most Valuable Player presentational silver tray by Gorham Co, New York. Exceptional quality silver-plated tray as presented to Clemente by the Texaco Oil Co. of Puerto Rico. Inscribed in center panel (in Spanish), "Roberto Clemente As an Expression of Sincere Recognition for his Triumph as the Most Valuable Player of the National League". Texaco Oil Co. insignia with "1966" superimposed engraved beneath the central inscription. Intaglio decor surrounds the inscription, 26" long marked with Gorham hallmarks on the back. Very fine overall condition with some very minor surface wear to the plating in a few areas. Outstanding presentational piece with relation to one of the greatest accomplishments of Clemente's historic career and his only MVP award selection.
