Lot Number: 180

Description: May 24, 1931 Babe Ruth single signed 571st home run attributed baseball. Red and blue stitched Reach E.S. Barnard Official American League baseball has been signed across the sweetspot, "Babe Ruth." Inscribed to the left, in his hand, is "No 6" and on the right is "May 24, 1931." The Yankees hosted Philadelphia that day, at Yankees Stadium, and Ruth hit his 6th home run of the season off Athletics pitcher Rube Walberg; one of (46) total he would hit that season. We have been privileged to handle several notable Babe Ruth home run attributed baseballs however, this stands as the lone example which is so noted in his own hand. An important piece as relates to the game's most celebrated figure and perhaps a unique opportunity to acquire such a well documented home run ball. Includes full LOA from JSA: Sig. NM, Ball EX
