Description: Exceptional 1963 Green Bay Packers team signed football from the Kennedy White House. Rare and desirable high grade example of the noted NFL Championship team as sent to then President John F. Kennedy by Vince Lombardi. The pair are believed to have met in 1960 when the noted Coach endorsed Kennedy at a Wisconsin campaign stop. As legend has it the President then helped the Packers win a Championship in 1961 by exerting influence that allowed for Paul Hornung to be granted leave from the National Guard to play. This ball was sent to President Kennedy along with a letter from Vince Lombardi (on file at Library of Congress, see detail image) and eventually gifted to the well-known long-time aide and confidant of the President, David Powers. With regard to both condition and provenance, we are confident in stating this specimen to be the finest example to have entered the market. Wilson Thorpe Sporting Goods P.Rozelle Official NFL football has been signed by (53) incl. Lombardi, Starr, Kramer, Fears, Taylor, Gregg, Ringo, Thurston, Wood, Nitschke, Adderley, Robinson, Dowler, McGee, Jordan, and others. Ink signatures rate uniformly strong 8 to 8/9 out of 10. Ball has been re-bladdered for display with a few minor imperfections that remain largely confined to a lone panel. Includes letter of provenance from the Powers Family and full LOA from JSA: NM
