Description: Lou Groza professional model cleats with exceptional provenance c.1960s. Well preserved pair of leather hightop cleats show strong usage wear with the right kicking shoe done in the familiar style of those worn by "The Toe" having squared off front edge. The were gifted by Groza to sculptor Lou Regalbuto whom met with the Hall of Famer in 1966 to take a plaster cast of his foot from which a bronze was made. Regalbuto was working on behalf of the Cleveland Health Museum and the resulting piece was to join castings of Bob Feller's pitching hand and Joe Louis' fist. The cleats were exhibited by the Cleveland Browns in the 2010-13 time frame as part of their "Heritage Hall at Brownstown" display in Cleveland Browns Stadium. Additional and related documention includes 1966 dated press photo of Groza and Regalbuto during the cast making process (and period newspaper article showing same), 1961 photo of Groza wearing similar cleats, small plastic placard related to prior display, detailed signed letter of provenance from Regalbuto Family member, and LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
