Description: Rare 1945 Tom Connolly handwritten letter with related Connie Mack letter. March 1, 1945 handwritten letter has been signed, "Respectfully yours, Thomas H. Connolly." Content reads in part, "Right now Mr. Harridge has thirteen man on his staff and it looks like he is well fortified for some time. However, I will keep the men in mind you have suggested." The staff to which he is referring is the American League Umpiring crew over which he was then serving as Supervisor. An included Connie Mack handwritten letter (signed "Con") to the same recipient reads in part, "In regards to Joe Papparello there is not much that I can do. As Tommy Conelly (sic.) feels that I should not recommend any more Umpires to the League..." Fountain pen handwriting and signatures rate 8 to 8/9 out of 10. Each piece has typical fold lines from mailing and some additional wear which is slightly more pronounced on the Connolly piece which also has a portion of scrapbook page attached at upper back.
