Lot Number: 249

Description: 1869 Cincinnati Reds Peck & Snyder advertising trade card. Rare and important trade card, generally considered among the first "baseball cards" ever issued, features a large sepia toned photographic image of baseball's earliest professional team. Lead by Hall of Fame brothers George and Harry Wright, the club played games from Coast to Coast, posting a perfect record, and helping to grow the game which would become known as our National Pastime. The card exists today in very limited numbers and in (3) different configurations. This example, being the small type with "ad back", is seemingly the most seldom offered with (5) combined copies listed on the PSA and SGC population reports. The card has chipping to corners with each rounded with a small section missing. Additional chipping/wear can be found on the edges and is more pronounced on the lower edge. What appear to be creases along the bottom (below image) and on right side are deep and cause some separation of the material. Photographic portion itself remains relatively crisp with fine contrast and clarity. A seldom offered rarity and the first we have handled in many years: SGC "Authentic"
