Description: 1986 Tony Gwynn "Silver Slugger Award." Significant and prestigious presentational piece features a full sized metal bat supported by homeplate shaped wooden base and upright backing. Mounted at top is a "Louisville Slugger" logo and below, an engraved metal placard reading in part, "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger Award, Presented to Tony Gwynn - OF San Diego Padres, Member of the Sporting News National League Offensive Team, 1986..." An important honor as bestowed annually by Major League Coaches and Managers and one of (7) earned by Gwynn whom is considered one of the best and most consistent hitters in baseball history. Approx. 35" tall and 11" wide with a touch of light wear on the back, the result of prior display within the Gwynn Collection.
