Description: Fine 1986 Tony Gwynn Gold Glove award. Original Gold Glove award as presented to Tony Gwynn in recognition of his outstanding defense for the 1986 season. Universally regarded as one of the greatest batsman in the history of the game Gwynn worked tirelessly to improve his defensive skills after his collegiate career. As in most aspects of his baseball career Tony succeeded and went on to win a total of (5) Gold Glove Awards presented by Rawlings. The offered award presents in fine overall condition with gold leaf decorated leather Rawlings glove and baseballs positioned atop a mahogany wooden base. Dated and inscribed to Gwynn on the base with portrait image visible on pedestal beneath the glove. Notably clean general condition with some very minor age fading to the wooden finish surface noted for accuracy only.
