Description: Rare McLoughlin Bros. "Game of Baseball" c.1886. Early baseball themed game by the noted maker having beautifully illustrated game action scene on lid. Box (just under 9.5"x17.25") is constructed of wood at sides with heavy stock pressed paper board serving as top and bottom. Exterior displays chipping and wear throughout corners and edges (more accentuated at upper right) and central image portion mainly having some mild wear and touch of scattered surface residue. Housed inside are a game board, instruction booklet (some pages separated, unknown if complete), (2) spinners, (8) wooden game pieces), and (9) of the small handpainted cast metal players.
