Description: Important 1973 Joe Frazier fight worn and autographed robe from title fight vs. George Foreman. Cream color terr ycloth robe lined in yellow satin is beautifully embroidered on the back with the name "Joe Frazier." A pair of boxing gloves, one topped by a crown, are incorporated into the design. An "Everlast" tag near neckline inside reads "Made Expressly For Joe Frazier." Appropriate usage wear can be found throughout and it has been signed inside "Dr DePace, My man, Joe Frazier." Marker signature rates 8 out of 10. Frazier headed into the highly anticiapted bout as the reigning undisputed Heavyweight Champion; a title he had sucessfully defended in (11) consecutive fights. Foreman was the top ranked Heavyweight and a formidable opponent. The affair lasted until a minute and thirtyfive seconds into the second round when a dazed Frazier fell to the mat amidst cries from announcer Howard Cosell of "Down Goes Frazier!" coining what has become an iconic line. Frazier can be seen in fight video wearing the robe as he heads into the ring and he retained it for many years before it given directly to the Dr. Depace to whom it is inscribed.
