Description: Josh Devore sidewritten professional model baseball bat c.1910s. Rare early bat with strong attribution to player use through Louisville Slugger factory applied sidewriting which clearly reads, "Josh Devore." Devore spent (7) years in the Major Leagues with the majority spent as a member of the New York Giants. He later joined the Cincinnati Reds and in 1914 was with the Philadelphia Phillies and then traded to Boston just in time to be a member of the "Miracle Braves" World Series Championship team. Wooden bat measures 34.5" long and weighs nearly 42oz with no discernable manufacturers markings. The bat was at one time within the Louisville Slugger vaults and like many such pieces suffered the effects of a fire which has blackened the majority of the surface.
