Description: Magnificient 1894 Spalding "Most Popular Player" presentational bat. Spalding brand bat (model "No. O.X.") has applied metal accenture throughout with the endcaps decorated in repousse floral pattern. Rectangular plate applied to left of manufacturers mark reads in full, "Peter Brogan Of The Woodline B.B. Club, Voted The Most Popular Base Ball Player In South Brooklyn, November 15th 1894." Additional circular ball shaped plate to the right reads, "Presented by Yager & Gabey 326 Columbia St. Brooklyn N.Y." In fine overall condition with original surface intact exhibiting only minor surface wear to teh bat itself and some light surface tarnishing to the metal placards. . Baseball's history has deep roots in Brooklyn with some of the best known early teams originating in the area. Although the particular accomplishments of Brogan the player, and record of Woodline Club, remain unknown this piece presents as one of the most tastefully executed early presentational bats we have handled with regarding to quality of construction and level of preservation: EX-EX/MT
