Description: Significant 1989 Johnny Bench -The Catcher+ original painting by Leroy Neiman. Stunning original painting on board depicting Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench in full uniform and catcher+s gear in a standing position. Superb composition, execution, and use of light are vividly evident by Neiman who is universally lauded as the finest sports artist of the 20th century. This particular rendering is one of Neiman+s more popular of the 1970-80s era of Hall of Fame player subjects well illustrated within the related serigraph and print editions of same. The painting is signed at lower left , -Neiman 89+ and -Johnny Bench HOF 89+. The reverse of the painting has also been signed and inscribed in large black marker, -of and for Johnny, your friend Leroy 1989+. Overall sight size measures an impressive 24+x47+ with custom framing having side lighting in red tube bulbs. Outstanding original condition with only a few minute surface flakes mentioned for accuracy only. Important master work from Neiman+s portfolio which was prominently displayed within the Bench residence since its execution.
