Description: Scarce 1979 Garry Maddox Philadelphia Phillies "Saturday Night Special" uniform (One Game Style). Originally intended to be worn during Saturday night home games for the Philadelphia Phillies the solid maroon style uniforms made their debut on May 19, 1979. The Phillies were trounced by the Montreal Expos by a score of 10-5 but received even worse reviews for the uniforms which were categorized by many as some of the most unattractive ever worn in Major League play. Bowing to the pressure of poor reviews and player complaints the Phillies discontinued use after the single game of use making this particular style one of the rarest of all 20th century uniforms. Offered is Garry Maddox's Saturday Night Special uniform of a deep maroon knit jersey and pants having "31" and "P" on front with "Maddox" nameplate on the back above #31. Proper Rawlings tagging affixed to tail front along with "Set 1 1979" flag tag and "44 79 1" chain stitched strip tag. Matching pants are included with identical Rawlings and supplemental tagging. Signed by Maddox in black sharpie across the front. Very light use/wash wear as appropriate for one game style. Incredible rarity ranking among the most desirable of all modern era uniform styles. Includes LOA from MEARS Authentication graded a perfect A10: EX-MT
