Description: Unique original Houston Oilers "House of Pain" autographed stadium display banner c. Late 1980s-Early 1990s. Original hand painted linen banner which once hung near the end zone area at Houston's legendary Astrodome Stadium. Known for its hard nosed defense and crazed fan environment within the Astrodome the Houston Oilers teams of the 1980-1990s era adopted the "House of Pain" nickname. The banner itself measures approximately 105"x120" with a hand painted rendering of four Oilers players standing atop a likeness of Bills quarterback Jim Kelly across the front reminiscent of the notable "Steel Curtain" banner of the 1970s era for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Additionally the banner has been autographed by a number of Oilers players in the period to include Warren Moon, Ray Childress, Curtis Duncan, Bruce Mathews, and William Fuller. The banner remains in its original condition with a few areas of age toning or staining mostly towards the bottom edge. Interesting and desirable piece relating to the one of the more memorable teams of the era. Includes auction LOA from JSA (autographs): VG-EX
