Description: Jim Gilliam professional model baseball bat c.1961-1964. Louisville Slugger bat with Gilliam facsimile signature burned into the barrel end measures 35" long and weighs 31.6 oz. Model number "U1" is stamped in the knob. Uncracked with strong usage wear evident throughout incl. visible ball and stitch marks and there is some grain swelling due to repeated ball contact. The bat is fresh to the hobby and was long treasured by a California native who obtained it in the period and believes it to have been used by Gilliam to hit the first home run (by a Dodger) in Dodgers Stadium.
