Description: Significant October 5, 1960 World Series Game #1 baseball with attribution to Bill Mazeroski's Home Run. Official Giles National League baseball exhibiting appropriate use and surface wear attributed to being hit by Bill Mazeroski for a home run in game #1 of the 1960 World Series. It was the fourth inning of the initial game of the 1960 World Series contest being played at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field in which Mazeroski connected off of Yankees pitcher Jim Coates for a two run home run to take the lead in the series opener. The ball itself presents in its original condition with period inscription as written by Mazeroski in blue ink, "World Series Home Run Ball , October 5, 1960". As recalled by Mazeroski the ball was presented to him immediately following the game and has been within his collection since that date. It is very relevant to note that while Mazeroski was always revered for his exceptional defensive skill he was additionally respected for his clutch hitting as well. It is interesting and of a certain irony that in the seven games played in the 1960 World Series Bill Mazeroski belted two home runs. Hal Smith and Rocky Nelson's game seven home runs were the only other two hit by Pittsburgh players in the 1960 World Series. While it has become apparent over time that the magical Game # 7 Walk Off home run baseball has been lost to the ages the offered exemplar survives as its closest relative. Unique and interesting historic baseball with desirable primary source origination. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions and notarized letter of provenance from Bill Mazeroski confirming its possession within his personal collection since the 1960 World Series: VG-EX
