Lot Number: 820

Description: 1927 New York Yankees team signed baseball (World Series Champions). Led by a lineup so devastating they were known simply as "Murder's Row", the team fielded in New York for the 1927 season has spawned more lore and admiration than any other in modern American sports history. After losing to St Louis in the 1926 World Series the Yankees were strong out of the gate in 27 and by season's end finished (19) games ahead in American League. The World Series followed suite as they swept the Pittsburgh Pirates to take home a championship title. Red and blue stitched Reach B.Johnson Official American League baseball has been signed by (22) including Gehrig, Combs, Koenig, Wera, Grabowski, Paschal, Pipgras, Giard, Meusel, Collins, Dugan, Hoyt, Shocker, Gazella, Bengough, Ruether, Dugan, Shawkey, Lazzeri, Woore, and Pennock. As is more often than not the case, the Babe Ruth signature (sweet spot) is clubhouse signed. Period fountain pen signatures rate 5/6 to 7/8 out of 10 with most falling at 6/7 level. Ball displays mild toning with touch of very isolated "wear" mostly taking the form of a few very small chips to leather (around laces near sweet spot). Manufacturer and league stampings remain well defined. Suitable representation of one of the most desirable team signed baseballs within the field. Includes auction LOA from JSA: Overall EX-EX/MT
