Description: June 13, 1948 Yankee Stadium 25th Anniversary Celebration autographed baseball (Ruth+s final appearance). Reach Official American League baseball bearing a total of (15) signatures including Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Waite Hoyt, Wally Pipp, Lefty Gomez, Bob Shawkey, Wilcey Moore, Joe Dugan, Bud Hassett, Joe McCarthy, Red Ruffing, Bob Meusel, and Wally Schang. Majority are done in black fountain pen rating 3 to 6/7 out of 10 with some fading/loss, Ruth in blue ink rates 5 to 5/6. Ball is toned and has generally consistent light/moderate surface wear throughout with a few more pronounced imperfections. Small handwritten -6-13-48+ date written on near faded stampings. The day would mark Ruth's last in the stadium which was built to house the fans who came in droves to see him. In a touching pre-game ceremony his uniform number "3" was retired amid a thunderous ovation. Two months later, The Babe passed and lay in state in the Yankee Stadium rotunda as more than 200,000 fans and friends filed through to pay their last respects.
