Description: UPDATED DESCRIPTION: 1972 Tug McGraw New York Mets professional model road jersey. Rare and desirable jersey as relates to one of McGraw's finest seasons with the Mets and the first in which he was voted to an All-Star appearance. In (107) innings pitched he gave up just (71) hits, finishing with a 1.07 ERA and a Mets record (27) saves which stood until 1984. Road gray jersey has "Mets" team name lettered across the front in scripted logo font. This team name appears to be of the period and team issued but is a replacement for the original "New York" lettering which would have been on a 1972 jersey. It is quite possible that the shirt is original as issued and then was used subsequently in 1974 by McGraw when "Mets" were found across the front. Number "45" appears below and on the back. Period skyline logo patch on left sleeve. In the collar is a "45 44 72" embroidered strip tag denoting player, size, and year. "Wilson" manufacturer's tag on front tail lists the size, "44." Fine strong usage wear is evident throughout. Exceptional representation as relates to a key player of the period and one of the great Mets cult figures. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX
