Description: Significant Warren Spahn S.Rae Hickok Award presentational belt for September 1960. Notable award as presented annually to the professional athlete of the year whose winners rank as some of the greatest names in sports history; Mickey Mantle, Jim Brown, Rocky Marciano, Sandy Koufax, and Arnold Palmer are just a few. The annual recipients of the award received a stunning solid gold belt having inset diamonds. The offered sterling silver variant was presented to monthly winners who had qualified for the larger annual award at the end of the season. Black leather belt having the revered S.Rae Hickok emblem at center with "Decade of Sports 1950-60" engraved across the front. Two smaller silver placards flank the center panel with "Warren Spahn" and "Baseball" inscribed. The center portion is marked "sterling silver" with the belt itself handsomely mounted to a mahogany wall plaque (easily removable). Includes its original green leather hinged lid box with Hickok impressed in gold lettering along with the original November 7, 1960 typewritten letter sent to Spahn and signed by Ray Hickok.
