Description: Important 1957 Warren Spahn Outstanding Major League Baseball Pitcher trophy. Superb quality silver-plated figural loving cup style trophy as presented to Warren Spahn by the Milwaukee Chapter of the BBWAA as the outstanding Major League Baseball Pitcher for the 1957 season. Two handled trophy stands 18" tall atop its original black wooden base having large baseball shaped finial at the top. Inscribed on the front, "In Special Recognition of Warren Spahn as The Outstanding Pitcher in the Major Leagues For 1957". Very fine general condition with some typical surface wear. Warren Spahn enjoyed a spectacular season in 1957 with a record of 21-11 having a 2.69 ERA and 18 complete games. Spahn led the Braves to the 1957 World Series in which they defeated the favored New York Yankees. Very significant presentational trophy originating from the winningest left handed pitcher in the history of the game. Includes period color photograph of Spahn receiving the trophy: EX-MT
