Description: Very fine Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autographed baseball c.1928. McKinnon Sporting Goods brand "League Special" baseball has been signed on the sweetspot, "Babe Ruth." Appearing on adjacent side panel positioned such that both signatures can be viewed simultaneously is "Lou Gehrig." Period fountain pen signatures rate 8 out of 10. Written on panel below is the date "Oct. 30, 1928" and the name "E.L. Burkle." This ball was originally offered by Hunt Auctions in 2004 (selling for $29,000) at which time it was accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Burkle Family (no longer present) detailing that the ball was signed as Ruth and Gehrig were passing through Sioux City, Iowa on their 1928 Bustin Babes and Larrupin' Lou's Barnstorming Tour. Very high quality ball offering outstanding display qualities with note to the desirable ideal signature positioning.
