Description: Fidel Castro autographed photograph to Ted Wieand with 1959 Playoffs medallion and presentational belt buckle. Black and white 8"x10" photograph as taken at the 1959 Junior World Series in Cuba pictures Ted Wieand shaking hands with Fidel Castro. Photo has been signed and inscribed on back by Castro and dated October 6, 1959. Ink signature rates 7 to 8 out of 10. There is an additional unidentified signature and also a handwritten translation of Castro's sentiment which reads in part "with my sincere congratulations and gratitude for your brilliant performance." Photo displays light toning with scattered wear including a pair of vertical fold lines. Includes 1.5" diameter medallion with relief of batter on the front and "Play Off 1959 L.International Ted Wieand" on back and belt buckle with player motif engraved "Cubans L.I. 1959 Municipio De Marianao." Buckle is marked 1/20 10K on back indicating a small gold content or covering. Includes auction LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from Ted Wieand: Photo VG, Sig.
