Description: Harmon Killebrew jersey number retirement presentational framed display. Framed 22"x24" display piece as presented to Harmon Killebrew on May 4, 1975 at Metropolitan Stadium. Remains as issued with red textured background bearing affixed front portion of team issued jersey. "Twins" lettered across the front in logo font with "3" player and team logo patch below. It appears that the "3" has been moved over to allow for centered placement of the patch. "Wilson" manufacturer's tag in collar portion which was left intact. Includes 11"x14" black and white photograph (modern print) of the ceremony showing Killebrew on field accepting the honor. Harmon Killebrew made his debut with the Washington Senators in 1954 becoming the youngest active Major League player at the time. In 1958 newly installed team owner Calvin Griffith named him the teams regular third baseman and just two seasons later moved the team to Minnesota with a name change to the Twins. Having been named team Captain at age 25, Killebrew flourished beginning a string of what would become (10) All-Star Game appearances, an American League Championship in 1964, and would (6) times be voted within the top (5) contenders for the AL MVP award - an honor which he indeed won in 1969. Without question he remains the most notable player to have donned a Twins uniform through the 1960s and 1970s and is among to top three in franchise history.
