Lot Number: 527

Description: 1939 New York Yankees team signed Red Rolfe professional model baseball bat. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 34" long, weighs 35.8oz, displays evident usage wear with a repaired handle crack. "1939 World Series Champions Yankees" has been inscribed on the handle along with "Monte Pearson Two Hit Game." Pearson pitched game (2) of the 1939 World Series in Yankee Stadium taking a no hitter into the seventh inning before finally giving up just (2) hits to the Cincinnati Reds. Based on this inscription, it is very likely that the offered bat was used during that game. Signed by (28) members of the World Champion Yankees including Dickey, Rolfe, Ruffing, Combs, Chandler, and Henrich in period fountain pen rating 7 to 9 out of 10. The surface of the bat has some age crazing, which at a few places has flaked, but in general remains stable so as to protect the signatures. Two areas on the surface of the barrel have some restoration where two signatures (Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio) were removed. Championship team signed bats from this era are exceedingly scarce with this being one of a very few we have encountered. Includes auction LOA from JSA, full LOA from PSA/DNA (autographs), and LOA from Hunt Auctions (bat): Bat: EX (with note to repair), Signatures: Range EX-NM
