Lot Number: 446

Description: 1981 Ryne Sandberg autographed Philadelphia Phillies professional model rookie jersey. In what certainly ranks among the worst trades in baseball history the Phillies shipped Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for shortstop Ivan DeJesus. Sandberg went on to a Hall of Fame career amassing (9) Gold Gloves over (16) seasons. Powder blue knit jersey has Phillies "P" logo on front along with player number "37." Number also appears on back below "Sandberg" nameplate. "Wilson" manufacturer's tag on front tail with the size "44." Below is an "81 2" embroidered strip tag denoting year and set number. Chain stitched strip tag in collar reads "Halicki" indicating that the jersey was likely issued to journeyman pitcher Ed Halicki for Spring Training before being tailored for use by Sandberg. Autographed on the back number in black marker, "Ryne Sandberg" rating 8/9 out of 10. Light evident usage wear. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and SCD Authentic (matching SCD hologram in collar), auction LOA from JSA, and photos of Sandberg signing the jersey: EX-EX/MT
