Lot Number: 356

Description: Roy Campanella professional model baseball bat c.1950-1951. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35 1/2" long and weighs 35.8oz. Model number "G80" has been stamped in the knob end and "Campanella" is block lettered in the barrel. Heavy usage wear evident throughout inclusive of ball transfer and stitch marks. The hitting surface displays grain swelling and several dents. Factory records indicate that this bat was produced and shipped between March of 1950 and May of 1951. Campanella joined the Dodgers as their regular catcher in 1948 and in 1949 made his first of (8) consecutive All-Star Game appearances. In 1951 he beat out Stan Musial to win the first of an eventual (3) Most Valuable Player Awards. Campanella game bats are notably scarce with this being one of only a handful we have offered in nearly (20) years. A fine example dating to the break-out era of his Hall of Fame career. Includes LOAs from Hunt Auctions and MEARS (Graded A7 with hologram affixed): EX
