Description: Yogi Berra autographed professional model catchers mitt c.1950s with exceptional provenance. "He seemed to be doing everything wrong" Mel Ott once said of Yogi Berra, "yet everything came out right." With that he may well have summed up what is so endearing about Berra; an unlikely candidate, it would seem upon first glance, to have his name mentioned among the list of baseball's All-Time Greats. Berra served as the anchor of baseball's most dominant team through their most celebrated era playing with Yankees for the (18) year span that stretched from 1946 to 1962. In the years that followed, he has become one of the games' most well respected figures and outspoken ambassadors. Exceptionally desirable brown leather left handed catchers mitt retains approximately 75% of the original "Spalding" manufacturer's tag on outside above wriststrap. Player number "8" is written on the outside thumb in black marker with additional vintage "Yogi" notation on web (in Berra's hand). More recently, it was inscribed "It ain't over till it's over." Also on outside are "Streamlined Fingers" and "Heavy Duty Lockstitched" manufacturer's markings along with "Pat. No. 2231204 CANADA - 398340-1941." Berra has signed the glove in ink below rating 8 out of 10. Interior has "Larry Yogi Berra" impressed facsimile signature and "E-Z Flex" designation. Moderate to heavy wear is evident and has partially obscured some additional markings. Signed again on the inside, "Yogi Berra #8" in black marker rating 7 out of 10. Notarized January 25, 2001 handwritten note on L.T.D. Enterprises (Berra Family Corp) letterhead reads, "I am glad you still have my glove after all these years, I was happy to autograph it for you. Your Pal, Yogi Berra." Player game gloves with direct attribution are of noted rarity with the offered being one of the most well documented in some time.
