Lot Number: 2p

Description: 1910 Eddie Collins handwritten letter with fine content. (2) Page handwritten letter to D.A. Fletcher dated September 21, 1910. Reads in part, "Positively count on me to be with you every way for the All Star Tour, that is final - and I sure hope it comes off in spite of the Commission's opposition. Measurements for uniform are as near as I know as follows...every wish for success." Signed at the close, "Edward T. Collins." Collins was just laying the foundation for his Hall of Fame career and despite his young age (only 23 at the time) was a member of the highly touted (and equally well paid) "$100,000 Infield." He would help the Athletics to a string of Championship seasons between 1910 and 1914 and is one of the most important players of the era. Light consistent age toning with scattered light creasing (slightly more pronounced on second page). Both pages have small ship at upper edge where staple was removed. Very scarce playing days dated letter. Includes letter of provenance and auction LOA from JSA: Overall EX, Sig. EX/MT-NM
