Description: Walter Johnson handwritten letter with outstanding and historic content c.1910. (3) Page handwritten letter to D.A. Fletcher on "Hotel Richmond" stationery. Reading in full, "I certainly do hope we can go ahead and play those games. I am ready and more than willing to go ahead at my time and I know they boys here are. I will hold my contract and check and hope we can go on and play. I think the National Commission is going too far. We have consent from all out Managers and owners of the clubs so why should they but in and stop us. They just want to run everything that comes up and want everybody to know it and I think it is about time the ball players should have a word anyway. I think after we have played all summer under them they should mind their own business and if your owners are willing let us go on and play. I sure hope all the players stick and we can on go and show the National Commission up." Signed at the close "Walter Johnson." Poignant and strongly worded letter from the otherwise reserved player illustrates the frustration felt throughout those involved. Very light consistent age toning with all (3) pages showing more pronounced area at lower edge. Pinholes at top edges. Handwriting/signature rates 8/9 out of 10. Includes letter of provenance and auction LOA from JSA: Overall EX
