Description: Magnificent and rare 1924 Heinie Groh World tour complete uniform. Following their successful campaign of the 1924 season, a select group of players from the National League Champion New York Giants set out to represent the United States on a tour of Europe. A series of games was played with the Chicago White Sox in front of both budding fans of the game and numerous European leaders and Royalty. Special uniforms were constructed for use on the trip with the team's logo (most commonly found on the chest) moved to the sleeve and in its place - a vibrant and colorful 5.25" tall chain stitch embroidered American flag patch. It is speculated that following the tour each participant was presented with their uniform; the offered representing one of the very few to have both survived and subsequently been offered publicly. Pinstriped flannel jersey retains the Giants interlocking "NY" logo on the left sleeve and magnificent all original American flag patch on chest. "Spalding" manufacturer's tag in collar appears next to player name "Groh" which has been chain stitched in red directly into the fabric. Matching pants are tagged in similar fashion within the waistband. Also included are the stirrup socks. The uniform remains in exceptionally well preserved condition exhibiting expected usage wear in the form of game appropriate scattered soiling. Included is a period large format black and white photograph, framed to 21.25"x25.25" overall, depicting various members of the Giants meeting with King George V including Groh himself wearing what appears to be the offered uniform. One of the most dramatic and visual uniform styles of the era and the first we have handled. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX-EX/MT
