Exceptionally desirable chest protector and leg guards as used by Jason Varitek during the historic Boston Red Sox "Reverse the Curse" era. Varitek has played (15) seasons with the team and in 2004 was named Captain becoming only the 4th player since 1923 to hold the distinction. He has anchored their infield through (2) World Championship seasons and caught an MLB record (4) no-hitters. Red and blue chest protector with "All-Star" and MLB logo patches on front has pair of manufacturer's tags on back. Model "LG22W-Pro" leg guards also bear "All-Star" manufacturer's markings with MLB logo in several places. Note that based on photographic research it is believed that 2004 is only season in which Varitek wore equipment which matches this set and was a teammate of Curt Schilling. Expected heavy usage wear throughout. Catcher's gear is among the rarest and most sought after of all modern era game-used material and the offered grouping is without peer with regard to provenance.
