Lot Number: 68

Description: 1993 Mitch Williams autographed World Series professional model road uniform. Road gray jersey with "Phillies" team name across the front and player number "99" on back below the name "Williams." Number also appears on left sleeve and World Series patch is on right. Russell Athletic manufacturing tag on front tail with size 48. "100% Polyester" and "1" Extra Body Length" attached. Signed on the front, "Mitch Williams" in black marker rating 8/9 out of 10. Matching pants have Russell Athletic tag in waist with size 32 and adjacent "100% Polyester" tag. "99 W Thing" is written in the waistband in black marker. Light usage wear is evident throughout. The uniform was obtained by our consignor through the Phillies Charities although the original documentation can not be located. Williams occupies an interestingly beloved place within the hearts of Phillies fans. His heart pounding saves out of the Phillies bullpen during the 1993 season were absolutely crucial to the team unexpectedly reaching the World Series. The end result, while not positive for Williams or the Phillies, was the second World Series walk off home run in Major League history as surrendered to Joe Carter of the Toronto Blue Jays. It is very much worth noting that Mitch Williams remains today one of the most loved Phillies players in franchise history and is to be admired for the extraordinary class in which he has handled his place in team history. Includes LOAs from JSA (autograph) and Hunt Auctions (uniform): EX-EX/MT
