Description: "Philadelphia Clowns" baseball jersey c.1940-50s. Vintage navy blue baseball jersey having embroidered "Phila Clowns" across the front in gold with #66 on the reverse (some losses). White caricature patch of a clown on the left sleeve remains intact. "M&H Sport Stores, Phila" tagging is found inside the collar area. Along with numerous incarnations of the famed Indianapolis Clowns franchise over the years, the Philadelphia Clowns played in numerous exhibitions against town and local beer league teams during the period. While we cannot ascertain with absolute surety that the offered jersey was worn by the Negro League Clowns team, in either case it presents as a beautiful period baseball display piece with display attributions to the aforementioned: EXEstimated Price Range: ($750-$1,000)
