Description: 1970 Vada Pinson East-West Baseball Classic presentation award with Martin Luther King medallion. 5"x8.5" Folding leather case containing "Martin Luther King 1929-1968" medallion with his likeness in relief on front and "I Have a Dream" slogan on reverse. Below is a gold colored plaque lettered "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. East-West Major League Baseball Classic, Los Angeles 1970, Presented to Vada Pinson." The event was organized by Ralph D. Abernathy of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Abernathy was a close associate of Dr. King, he and the organization played a pivotal role in the Civil Rights movement. Case exhibits minor soiling throughout the interior with partial separation at back jointed edge. Minor discoloration and soiling to interior and metallic pieces.
