Description: 1988 Dick Enberg Emmy Award: "Writing - Games of the XXIV Olympiad." Significant and instantly recognizable award presented to Dick Enberg for his assistance in writing for NBC during the 1988 Olympic games. It is one of (13) Emmy awards bestowed upon Enberg during a career which has seen his rise from play by play announcing the Indiana Hoosiers football team in 1957 to one of America's iconic sports Broadcasters with a voice that is both instantly recognizable and for many of us deeply affiliated with sports memories that span a lifetime. Over (50) years in the spotlight, he has lent that voice to numerous World Series, Super Bowls, Olympics, NFL and NCAA football, NBA and NCAA basketball, all of the tennis tournaments which comprise the Grand Slam, The Masters, U.S. Golf Open, PGA Championships, The Breeders Cup, The California Angels, Los Angeles Rams, and many other sporting events. Figural statuette stands 15.5" tall with base diameter of 7.5". Engraved "1988 Sports Emmy Award, Writing, Games of the XXIV Olympiad, NBC, Dick Enberg: Writer." In addition to being one of the most recognizable awards on earth, the Emmy is one of the most infrequently offered in the collecting field. Among the list of reasons are the sentimental value to the recipient. In this case, Mr. Enberg has generously elected to make this example available with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Kidz Corp Charity. Includes letter of provenance from Dick Enberg, his 2003 Academy of Television Arts & Sciences membership card, and Emmy Award lapel pin in original box: EX/MT-NM
