Description: Superb 1984 Tony Gwynn San Diego Padres professional model road jersey. Scarce early playing career Gwynn game jersey in a brown knit having "Padres" in yellow on orange lettering across the front. Original "Gwynn" nameplate remains affixed to the reverse with #19 beneath. Wilson mfg. label inside the collar are with small "tapered" flag tag. "19 84" chain stitched number/year tag is found on the tail front. "RAK" yellow memorial lettering displays on the left sleeve in honor of the passing of Padres owner, and McDonald's executive Ray A. Kroc who died in January 1984. The jersey shows outstanding usage and wash wear remaining in exceptional original condition. Tony Gwynn became a national figure within the game of baseball during the 1984 season leading the Padres to their first ever World Series appearance. In 1984 Gwynn attained a .351 batting average with 213 hits garnering an All-Star appearance and third place finish in the NL MVP voting.
