Spalding Hand Turned model "PP" bat with "Cuyler"name deeply impressed on the barrel end measures 36" long and weighs 35.4oz. Showing excellent use, including ball marks and cleat marks, the bat retains a unique small area of period handle tape, which matches photographs of Cuyler using bats with nearly identical taping (see detail image). The bat retains its original deep brown finish with some surface scratching to the barrel area, possibly from bat racks although unclear. Spalding center brand stampings remain quite bold with Spalding logo also stamped on the knob end. The bat is being offered for the first time publicly and originated from a former Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph reporter. According to family history, the gentleman received the bat from a fellow reporter who obtained it immediately following the 1925 World Series in which Cuyler doubled home the game winning run to capture the Championship for Pittsburgh. Fine and difficult HOF game bat being offered for the first time publicly. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions, notarized letter of provenance from the family, and (2) reproduction photos of Cuyler using similar bat with handle tape: EX
