Very scarce relic from baseballÆs infancy, 32ö long black walnut bat with two graduated flat sides and small tapered knob exhibits heavy evident use including indentations and surface wear throughout. Very similar in construction to its forerunner, the ôMassachusetts Styleö baseball bat c.1850-60s, as described in LovettÆs book "Old Boston Boys and Games They Played" c.1906 on pages 134-135.
