Description: Lou Gehrig bronze statue. Exceptional quality figural bronze statue of Lou Gehrig batting was sculpted by artist R.P. Daus in 1987. The attention to detail is extraordinary with the statue itself mounted on a mottled green alabaster base. This particular example is more desirable than the more commonly seen Gehrig bronze mounted on a pinstriped marble base. The offered bronze incorporates a full batters box and home plate area rendering. Marked by "The Sporting News" and "WWS Inc" on the bottom edge of the bronze itself. 16" tall. Daus' work is highly regarded as evidenced by the "Fireman's Memorial" sculpture which stands outside of City Hall in St. Louis: NMEstimated Price Range: ($2,500-$3,500)
