Description: 1954 Red Schoendienst St. Louis Cardinals professional model road jersey. Classic grey zip-front flannel shirt features embroidered Cardinals logo on front, red piping, and Schoendienst's #2 on back. Rawlings tag along with size "42" tag remains stitched in the collar. "A Schoendienst" and "54-2" appears in red chain stitch on the front tail. Wash tag with adjacent "Set 1 1954" flag tag is stitched inside the front tail. Jersey dates to Schoendienst's tenth season as a player with the Cardinals in which he was selected as an NL All-Star for the eight time. In all, Red Schoendienst spent 29 seasons with the Cardinals, 15 as a player, and 14 as manager during which he led the team to a World Championship in 1967. Shirt exhibits moderate wear with no significant structural faults and retains outstanding display quality. The jersey was obtained by our consignor as a member of a Midwestern minor league team that received a complete team set of uniforms from the Cardinals after the 1954 season. After wearing it only briefly, he carefully preserved the jersey in superb original, unaltered condition for the last half century. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX-MT
