Lot Number: 202

Description: Lot of (4) 1910-14 Shibe Park and (1) 1915 League Park World Series press passes. Press passes were issued for games played at Philadelphia's Shibe Park for the 1910, 1911, 1913 and 1914 World Series' and the 1915 World Series games at Philadelphia's League Park. By 1914, the Philadelphia Athletics had become a World Series regular and had dethroned two of Major League Baseball's first post-season dynasties by beating both the Chicago Cubs and New York Giants on more than one occasion. The reign ended after a stunning series sweep by the Miracle Braves in 1914. In 1915 it was the Phillies that reached the Fall Classic, facing the Boston Red Sox and their star rookie pitcher Babe Ruth in his World Series debut. Three of the Shibe passes have bearer's name written in ink: Range VG-VG/EX
