Description: Rare 1920 World Series Game #5 ticket stub from the Bill Wambsganss unassisted triple play. Original ticket stub was issued for Game #5 of the 1920 World Series (2nd game played at Cleveland). The series was tied at two games each with the fifth game proving to be the pivotal contest of the series. Cleveland vaulted out to an early lead behind a grand slam to take the lead. Threatening to score, Brooklyn got two men, Pete Kilduff and Otto Miller, on base in scoring position. Relief pitcher Clarence Mitchell, who had entered the game in the fourth, was Brooklyn's next batter. The versatile player, who was used as a pinch-hitter, outfielder, and utility infielder, hit a sharp line drive to second baseman Bill Wambsganss, who caught the ball, stepped on the bag, and tagged out a returning Miller to complete the first triple play (completely unassisted) in World Series history. Cleveland went on to win the game and eventually the series. The offered ticket stub remains very clean with a few very minute line creases and a tiny corner abrasion on the reverse: EX
