Description: Exceedingly scarce c.1910s Christy Mathewson, Joe Jackson, and others pictorial notebook cover. A rare survivor and possibly unique with this being the only example of this piece which we can recall ever seeing. Text printed along the lower edge relays "This series of covers contains 12 different famous ball players…" and we were able to locate an image of one of the same design which has Ty Cobb as the central figure. The offered example features a large image of Christy Mathewson in the center with a smaller likeness of Joe Jackson at upper right and Frank Baker on the left. The two players at lower corners are possibly Herb Pennock and Nap Lajoie (although we are far more confident in the former identifier than the later). The piece measures approx. 8"x11" and displays beautifully with a touch of light wear and no notable flaws aside from a minute chip in the right edge.
