Description:June 8, 1861 Abraham Lincoln autographed civil war dated endorsement as President. Crisp "A. Lincoln" signature appears below a note, written in his hand, which reads "It must not be long till Mr. Thomasson, named within, is appointed a Pay-Master…June 8, 1861." It was penned within the blank portion of a letter written to Lincoln in which the elder Thomasson had appealed to the President to appoint his son, Charles, a paymaster in the Army. Lincoln and Charles had evidently previously crossed paths and the content of his fathers' message reminds him that the position had been promised in the past. The piece measures 7.5"x9" overall (would have been 7.5"x4.75" when folded at the time of writing) and has typical mailing folds and some other modest wear and toning. Presently displayed in a 14.5"x13" frame (secured in place by mounting corners and it appears that it can be easily removed) and includes full LOA from JSA: VG-EX, Sig. NM
