Description: Outstanding Deacon Jones Los Angeles Rams professional model jersey c.1961-63 (Raymond Colonna: New York Yankees Scout Provenance)(MeiGray Photomatch). Royal blue durene jersey with original gold "75" numerals on front, back , and both sleeves. Proper Sand Knit manufacturer's label with size 50 indicator remains affixed to the bottom portion of the crotch flap. Evident use on the offered jersey may well be the most impressive of any professional sports uniform piece we have ever offered. The shirt is peppered with team repairs of various sizes numbering in excess of 45 mostly on the front but on the back as well. Jersey has been photomatched by MeiGray to a dated 1962 image with five unique matching characteristics including four of the team repairs. Jones is universally regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history earning eight Pro Bowl selections and leading the NFL is sacks five times. Known as the "Secretary of Defense", Jones was named to both the 75th and 100th NFL All-Time teams and was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The offered jersey originated from the personal collection of former New York Yankees Scout Raymond Colonna who organized charity events for the Knights of Columbus in Albion, NY. Colona corresponded with Jones who in turn sent him the offered jersey to be used to benefit the charity event. Superb Deacon Jones game jersey dating to the earliest portion of his career and quite possibly the finest of its type to have been offered publicly.
