Description:Ted Williams personal 1966-1976 handwritten and highly detailed fishing log. Impressive handwritten account of many of Williams' fishing related activities from 1966 through 1976 fills every page of this 8.5"x14" hardcover notebook. These typically cover events in specific time periods of each year and likely relate to the time he spent in Canada (he would split between there and Florida). The first inside page bears a handwritten and signed notation reading "Started 1966, Ted Williams." He goes on to note specific dates and then writes copious details regarding whom he was fishing with, weather, the number caught, and other details. Also written in several places are various quotes (some related to fishing, others not) and the back of the first inside page is filled with his estimates of fish caught prior to book being started, in combination with the statistics he kept, to formulate his lifetime totals. Williams was an avid outdoorsman and was well known for his love of fishing during his playing days. Upon retirement it became an all consuming focus and he was very likely just as skilled with a rod as he was with a bat. He is widely regarded as one of the best fly fishermen ever and is a member of the IGFA fishing Hall of Fame. An additional "Ted Williams 1970" autograph on the inside front cover is below a handwritten quote reading "Greatest privilege in angling is a chance to fish for the Atlantic Salmon." In addition to the two full name autographs noted, he wrote his first name "Ted" often (on many pages he has done so numerous times). There is some general handling and age related wear but the book is in fine overall condition. A fascinating glimpse into the dedication with which Williams approached his craft.
