Description:Ted Williams' personal Hitter.Net hat worn at the 1999 All-Star Game at Fenway Park. White hat with the "Hitter.Net" logo embroidered on the front was worn by Ted Williams during his appearance at Fenway Park for the 1999 All-Star Game. He was in attendance to both throw out the first pitch and join (30) other legendary players whom had been named to Major League Baseball's All-Century Team. The other notables had been introduced by Kevin Costner, both the American and National League teams had assembled on the baselines, and Donna Summer sang the National Anthem. In preparation for his throwing of the first pitch Ted Williams then emerged from behind a curtain, driven on in a golf cart, while PA announcer Ed Brickley gave him an introduction for the ages. He raised this cap to the crowd, who were then in the midst of a lengthy ovation, an act he had performed very few times in Fenway Park after proclaiming early in his playing career that he was not in favor of how fans and the press were treating him. The moment become iconic not just for his participation but also for the reactions of every then current player on hand who swarmed the mound after Williams threw the ceremonial first pitch. It is an event fondly recalled by all who were involved and remembered vividly by all who were watching. The hat shows sign of age and has areas of toning/discoloration throughout along with what appears to be a small paint stain on the top. It is signed "Ted Williams" under the brim in marker (approx. 6 out of 10, portion faded likely due to wear of the hat after it was signed). Includes auction LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the Williams Estate: GD-VG
