Description:Very rare "Christy Mathewson's Base Ball Game" board c.1910s. Scarce game board (15"x19") is the first of its' type which we can recall offering. A Christy Mathewson facsimile signature appears at lower right below his endorsement and his portrait is on the opposite side. A scoreboard affixed to the lower edge is done on a small sheet of metal which is marked, "Mathewson Game Co. Cincinnati, O." Text reading "Christy Mathewson's Base Ball Game" rings the middle and it appears that a spinner was likely affixed at the center however it is no longer present. Given the relative scarcity, it is likely that this game never made it to mass market (unlike his far more common "Big Six" endorsed game) and it is conceivable that this example (and the scant few others which have surfaced) were prototypes.
